Kevin Gamble, Animation Production & Management Consultant

What I do:

Creating, pitching & producing an animated series is a bit like crossing the ocean in a grand, opulent ocean liner. At first you're sipping champagne while you guide the ship out of dock, with your crew waving goodbye to the friends and family who have come to see you off on your great adventure.

And then, without warning, it's raining, the sun is setting, and the seas are starting to get rough. The clouds set in, making celestial navigation tough, and the next thing you know you see a giant, floating hunk of ice off the port bow. You frantically crank on the steering wheel but it's no use - the boat is just too big, and you can't turn it fast enough. The hull is dashed and water pours in. The crew abandons ship and the next thing you know you're floating in the Atlantic in a rubber raft trying to catch raindrops with your fancy captain's hat because you're out of the fancy champagne. Whoops.

That's where I come in.

See, I've crossed the ocean a few times myself. I know the routes, and I know how to spot icebergs far enough in advance so that you have enough time to change course. So BEFORE you leave port, let me, an experienced animation producer who's been there before, hook you up with a GPS system, some night goggles, and a satellite phone.

I can analyze your project and assess your creative materials to offer suggestions on how you might tweak it to ensure your show is producible - without compromising your vision.

I can scrutinize your production schedule & budget and tell you which departments are going to fall behind, and why. I can help you take the steps needed to fix these problems BEFORE they derail your show.

I can work with you & your team to design an efficient, smooth production pipeline, from script to record to board; from animatic to animation, to post production straight through to final technical deliverables. That means you and your creative team get to spend less time sweating the minutia and more time making a hit, because that's the fun part!

If you've got a co-production partner or studio that you are about to chain yourself at the hip to, (sometimes for several years) let me vet them. I'll give you a no-bullshit assessment of their facilities, assets and abilities, and get you the answers you need (by asking the questions you can't) before you take that leap of faith.

And if it's too late? If you've already fallen off course, lost your way or, heaven forbid, gone and hit the iceberg? Well, I know how to work a hammer, and I'm pretty handy with a roll of duct tape. I'll do my best to help you find & patch the leaks so you and your project can get back on track with a minimum of fuss. If you need more horsepower, I can help you find the freelancers, the support crew, and technology to remedy the situation.

Make sure you roll into port on time, on budget, and with a great show. It sure beats bobbing around the Atlantic in a rubber raft with an empty bottle of champagne.
